These last few years have been a challenging time for anyone working in healthcare. The health humanities provide us with opportunities to reflect on these experiences and to consider how we might move forward in positive ways. The theme for Creating Space 14 captures this idea by inviting you to consider how the health humanities can bring us together and help us find ways to support one another in a system that is broken.

Les humanités en santé nous donnent l’occasion de réfléchir à ces expériences et d’envisager des moyens d’aller de l’avant de manière positive. Le thème de Creating Space 14 reprend cette idée, en vous invitant à réfléchir aux différentes manières par lesquelles les humanités en santé peuvent nous rassembler et nous aider à trouver des moyens de nous soutenir les un.e.s les autres, dans un système brisé à plusieurs niveaux.

Peterkin Brett-Maclean Student Prize
The Canadian Association of Health Humanities Peterkin Brett-MacLean Prize honours the contributions of Drs. Allan Peterkin (University of Toronto) and Pamela Brett-MacLean (University of Alberta) as founders of the annual "Creating Space" meeting which began in 2010. Creating Space has been instrumental in promoting a strong Health Humanities culture across Canada and, in 2018, led to the founding of the Canadian Association for Health Humanities (CAHH). The award has been made possible by an anonymous donor and will be reviewed/renewed after 5 years.
This award will be presented annually by CAHH to a student (undergraduate or graduate) or resident whose oral presentation/paper, poster, performance, installation, or other contribution presented at Creating Space is judged to be the best. The appointment of adjudicators will be at the discretion of the CAHH Executive Committee. Members of the adjudicating committee shall decline to evaluate submissions if they have a special relationship with any author (e.g., if they are a relative, colleague, coauthor, etc.).
The award recipient(s) will receive a certificate and a prize of $500 (to be shared among co-contributors, if applicable). The award recipient(s) will be recognized at the CAHH meeting and acknowledged on the CAHH website and in e-communiques.
Eligibility:
• The abstract for the oral presentation/paper, poster, performance, installation, or other contribution must be accepted, and subsequently presented at the Creating Space.
• The primary submitter must be a CAHH member.
• The primary submitter must also be a registered student (undergraduate, or graduate), resident or fellow at the time the accepted contribution is presented (a copy of the student card or other evidence of learner status must be provided to meet this requirement).
• Submissions that are co-written or co-developed with other learners are eligible (submissions co-written/developed with a faculty member are not eligible).
• Submissions will only be considered if the primary submitter has NOT previously received the award in the past two years.
Judging Criteria: Submissions will be assessed using a 10-point rating scale according to the following parameters: 1) originality, 2) creativity, 3) quality, and 4) contribution to promoting Health Humanities scholarship and/or educational innovation.

Le prix étudiant Peterkin Brett-MacLean de l'Association canadienne des sciences humaines en santé (ACSHS) rend hommage aux contributions des Drs. Allan Peterkin (Université de Toronto) et Pamela Brett-MacLean (Université de l'Alberta) en tant que fondateur.ice.s de la conférence annuelle Creating Space qui a débuté en 2010. Creating Space a joué un rôle déterminant dans la promotion d'une forte culture des sciences humaines en santé partout au Canada et, en 2018 , a mené à la fondation de l’Association canadienne des sciences humaines en santé (ACSHS). Le prix a été rendu possible grâce à un don anonyme et sera revu/renouvelé à chaque 5 ans.
Ce prix est décerné chaque année par l’ACSHS à un.e étudiant.e (de premier cycle ou des cycles supérieurs) ou un.e résident.e dont la présentation orale, l'article, l'affiche, la performance, l'installation ou toute autre contribution présentée à Creating Space est jugée la meilleure. La nomination des évaluateur.ice.s du prix est à la discrétion du comité exécutif de l’ACSHS. Les membres du comité de sélection doivent refuser d'évaluer les soumissions si ils/elles entretiennent une relation particulière avec un.e auteur.ice (par exemple, s'il s'agit d'un parent, d'un.e collègue, d'un.e coauteur.ice, etc.).
Le/la ou les lauréat.e.s recevront un certificat et un prix de 500 $ (à partager entre les contributeur.ice.s, le cas échéant). Le(s) lauréat(s) du prix seront reconnu.e.s lors de la réunion de l’ACSHS et reconnu.e.s sur le site Web de l’ACSHS et dans les communiqués électroniques.
Admissibilité:
• Le résumé de la présentation orale, de l'article, de l'affiche, de la performance, de l'installation ou de toute autre contribution doit être accepté, puis présenté à Creating Space
• Le/la soumissionnaire principal.e doit être membre de l’ACSHS.
• Le/la soumissionnaire principal.e doit également être un.e étudiant.e inscrit.e (de premier cycle ou des cycles supérieurs), un.e résident.e ou un.e boursier.e au moment où la contribution acceptée est présentée (une copie de la carte d'étudiant ou une autre preuve du statut d'apprenant doit être fournie pour répondre à cette exigence).
• Les soumissions co-écrites ou co-développées avec d'autres apprenants sont éligibles (les soumissions co-écrites/développées avec un.e membre du corps professoral ne sont pas éligibles).
• Les candidatures ne seront prises en compte que si le/la soumissionnaire principal.e n'a PAS reçu le prix au cours des deux dernières années.
Critères d'évaluation : Les soumissions seront évaluées à l'aide d'une échelle de notation de 10 points selon les paramètres suivants : 1) originalité, 2) créativité, 3) qualité et 4) contribution à la promotion de l'érudition en sciences humaines en santé et/ou de l'innovation pédagogique.
